JESUP – David Edward Moore, 54 years old of Jesup, IA, died suddenly Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Buchanan County Health Center of an apparent heart attack. He was born October 26, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Clayton Edward Moore and Emma Jane (Grimes) Moore. He graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1975. He received All State Honors for the Marion Indians, excelling in cross country and track. On March 13, 1998, David was united in marriage to the former Cheryl Ann Werner at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Since 1981, David has been employed at the Mental Health Institute, Independence, IA, currently as a carpenter. He was also a long time member of the Mental Health Institute Fire Department, currently serving as their Assistant Chief. He also served as a board member for the Mental Health Institute’s Credit Union. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, the Buchanan County Wildlife Assoc., and was active in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in Buchanan County.
David is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Jesup, IA; one daughter, Abby Moore and one son Alex Moore, both at home; one stepson, Ryan (Stacy) Wienhold of Waterloo, IA; one step daughter, Karen (Jacob) Crosser of Nevada, IA; one step-grand daughter, Alyssa Marshall of Waterloo, IA; two sisters, Debra (Michael) Smith of Springville, IA, Sharon (Donald) Ransford of Robins, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Joseph Perez; and a twin sister, Diane Novak.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher officiating. Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA with special rites conferred by the Fire Fighter’s Brigade. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday and from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. A memorial fund will be established.
