White Funeral Home GILBERTVILLE - Mary Josephine McGee, 87 years old of Gilbertville, IA, died Thursday, June 13, 2024, at La Porte City Specialty Care, La Porte City, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilbertville. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and will continue for an hour before services at the church on Thursday. A rosary will be recited at the church before services Thursday. Memorials will be directed to the Bosco System, Immaculate Conception Church, Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 742, and Care Initiatives Hospice. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com Mary was born December 25, 1936, in Elma, IA, the daughter of Harold Prochaska and Rose (Haskovec) Prochaska. She graduated from Elma High School with the class of 1955. On March 2, 1957, she was united in marriage to John Charles “Jack” McGee at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, rural Elma. Mary worked for many years as a bookkeeper. First at Mueller’s Furniture in Cedar Falls, IA, and later for the City of Gilbertville. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the church choir. She was active in several Church and civic organizations. Mary is survived by two sons and their wives, Dennis (Teresa) McGee of Oklahoma City, OK, Richard (Veronica) McGee of Huxley, IA; two daughters and their husbands, Debra (Russ) Backes of Raymond, IA, Deanne “Dee” (Hal) Reiter of Buckingham, IA; daughter-in-law, Patricia McGee of Decorah, IA; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren with two other great grandchildren on the way; also one sister, Millie Whitinger of Elma; three brothers, James “Jim” Prochaska of Milan, IL, John (Hattie) Prochaska of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Fran (Theresa) Prochaska of Milan, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; one son, Daniel McGee; one great grandson, James Ollendieck; her parents; and one brother, Joe Prochaska. White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements. |
