INDEPENDENCE – Beverly S. Callaghan, 68 years old, of Independence IA, died of natural causes, Thursday, May 30, 2024, at her home in Independence.

Celebration of Life Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at White Funeral Home in Independence, IA. Graveside services will take place at another time at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence.

Beverly Sue Straw was born February 12, 1956, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Richard and Maxine (Schwer) Straw. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Independence with the class of 1975. On September 15, 1979, she was united in marriage to Gregory M. Callaghan in San Diego, California. Beverly was a homemaker, spending much of her time caring for her family. She also loved Christmas, and all the hope and joy that came with it.

Beverly is survived by two daughters, Angel (Dan) Chizek of Springville, IA, and Baylee Callaghan of Independence; one grandson, Mason Chizek; one brother, Mark (Beth) Straw of Center Point, IA; one sister, Amanda (Aaron) James of Oelwein, IA; and her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gregory Callaghan; and her sister, Regina Reedy.
