JESUP – Jerry L. Kelly, 79 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the Long Term Care unit of the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA. Jerry was born October 15, 1931, at Garner, IA, the son of Floyd Thomas Kelly and Mabel Inez (Williams) Kelly. Following graduation from Garner High School he served in the US Air Force from 1950 – 1954. On May 9, 1954, he was united in marriage to Patsy Ann Kasik in Mason City, IA. They made their home in Jesup, IA, and Jerry worked 30 years for the Illinois Central Railroad and then 6 years for the Chicago Central and Pacific Railroad before he retired in 1991. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jesup, IA.
Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Patsy Kelly of Jesup, IA; two sons, Michael (Terri) Kelly and Timothy (Diana) Kelly all of Jesup, IA; also, seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas (Karen) Kelly of Madison, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. – Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, with Pastor Ruth Ann Melick officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA, with Military Rites conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342 of Jesup, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 30th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the Church. Memorials will be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice.
