Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church, Jesup, with burial at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorials will be directed to Parkinson researchers, Cedar Valley Hospice and Grace Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com. Glen Dale Dawson was born November 18, 1936, at Manchester, IA, the son of Morris Maynard Dawson and Ella Mae (Morris) Dawson. He graduated from Manchester High School with the class of 1954. On January 17, 1960, he was united in marriage to Doris Irene Jacobson at Grace Lutheran Church in Jesup. Glen worked in the foundry at John Deere in Waterloo, retiring in 1995. He also farmed, raised cattle and did custom bailing. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Jesup and UAW Local 838 in Waterloo. Glen is survived by his wife, Doris of Jesup; two sons, Quintin Dawson of Guttenberg, IA, Glen “Jake” (Marlene) Dawson of rural Oelwein, IA; one daughter, Kellie (Larry) Hubert of Buckingham, IA; 6 grandchildren, Sierra Dawson, Tara, Glen and Jacob Dawson, Paul Youngblut and Luke Hubert; 5 great grandchildren, Jonathan, Ella Mae, Xander, Dawson and Wrenley; one step great-granddaughter, Caitlynn; also one sister, Beulah Lafferty of Menomonee Falls, WI. His parents; and three brothers, Floyd, Jimmy and LeRoy Dawson; preceded him in death. White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements. |
