Public visitation will be 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the White Funeral Home in Jesup. Private graveside services will be Thursday, November 16th at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Jesup.
Gloria Ann Lewis was born on August 2, 1932, in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of John and Lucile (Browning) Gillis. She graduated from Mound City High School in Mound City, MO, with the class of 1951 and then Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, IA. On June 24, 1956, she was united in marriage to Richard Place Lewis at her parent’s home in Mound City. They lived in Minneapolis, MN, for a short time until Richard finished school. The couple returned to Richard’s hometown of Jesup, in 1957. He preceded her in death in 2005. Gloria worked as a teacher at the Jesup Schools for a year before deciding to stay home and raise her family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup and also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Gloria is survived by one son, John Bradford “Brad” Lewis and daughter-in-law, Lisa Lewis of Aplington, IA; two grandchildren, Christopher Lewis of Milwaukee, WI, Britta (Justin) Driscoll of Aplington, IA; and three great grandchildren, Jamieson Driscoll, Jeremiah Driscoll, and Ireland Driscoll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and one sister-in-law and her husband, Sandra and Robert Finder.
