JESUP – Marlys K. Fuller, 80 years old of Cedar Rapids, IA, formerly from Greensboro, GA, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Grand Living at Indian Creek Senior Living in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Marlys Kay Fuller was born May 18, 1943, to Charles Dalton McAtee and Gladys Olivia (Thompson) McAtee. She graduated from Jesup Community School District in 1961. She married William Franklin Fuller on December 29, 1962. They met in junior high and just knew that it was right from day one. She lived in Iowa City, IA and Bemidji, MN, through Bill’s college years. Then they moved to Prospect Heights, IL, where she continued her education and received her teaching license. She taught business classes at Township High School District 211 in Palatine, IL. Then received her realtor license in 1987. After retiring, moved to Eatonton, GA.
Marlys truly appreciated her family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed painting, golf, pickleball, and traveling. She never backed down from a challenge, from balancing on a pilates ball with the great nieces and nephews or a round of push-ups at the senior center. She always wore a smile and enjoyed a laugh or two with those around her.
Marlys is survived by one brother, Dallas (Tiny) McAtee of Perry, IA; two brothers-in-law, William Hickey and David Ciesielski, both of Independence; and two sisters-in-law, Sharon McAtee of Jesup, Peggy McAtee of Riverside, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; two brothers, Harry and Roy McAtee; five sisters, Fern Fenner, Ardis Hickey, Hazel Eldridge, Darlene Ciesielski, and Donna Masteller; two brothers-in-law, Glen Fenner and John Eldridge.
A Celebration of Life will be set for later this year. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Jesup, IA.
