He graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High School in Fairbank with the class of 1959 then went on to serve in the United States Air Force. On January 9, 1964 he married Joyce Rhinehardt in Topeka, KS and they were later divorced. On December 9, 1989, he was united in marriage to Gwen Alice (Zingg) in San Bernadino, CA. They made their home in rural Fairbank where Jim farmed and worked various jobs over the years. As a handyman there wasn’t anything he couldn't do. He enjoyed traveling to auctions and farm sales in the area (and afar) but his true passion was rebuilding cars and tractors and fishing. Like any true fisherman, Jim always had a story to share. Jim's faith was also important to him as he made it a point to attend church regularly. When it came to the grandchildren, he loved spending time with them, sneaking them candies and following their activities. Jim was a member of Pump-Sheer American Legion Post #342 of Jesup. Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gwen Trebon of Fairbank, IA; his children, Rebecca (Russ) Hutchinson of Decatur, IL, Mike (Joan) Trebon of Panora, IA, Todd (Jodie) Trebon of Ankeny, IA, Wade Holtzman of Jesup, IA, Wayne (Kirby) Holtzman of Independence, IA; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ron (Paula) Trebon of Oregon, Bill Trebon of Independence, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister in-law, Holly Trebon; and his nephew, Kenneth "Kenny" Trebon. Memorials may be directed to the family to be given to organizations of their choice.
