JESUP –  Gerald Dean  “ROCK” Richter, 81 years old and formerly of East Dubuque, IL, and Earlville, IA, died Thursday, August 24, 2023, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center-West, Independence, IA.

A Celebration of his life will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2023, at The Other Side, 68 Sinsinawa, East Dubuque, IL.

Gerald was born May 1, 1942, in Manchester, IA, the son of Harry Richter and LoElla (Simons) Richter.  He grew up and graduated from high school in Earlville.  He was first married to Karen Stevens in Dubuque, IA.  They later divorced.  He later married Joanne Grace Bobb in Dubuque.

Gerald worked as a carpenter in the home siding business before retirement.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Joanne Richter of Chicago, IL; one son, Randy (Bari) Richter of Jesup, IA; one daughter, Katherine Joanne Richter of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Garrett Richter (Madison Thurm) and Paul Richter (Timber Thomas); one brother, David (Patricia) Richter of Marion, IA; two sisters, Lana Richter of Lakeland, FL, Jennifer Carlson (the late Rick Carlson) of Council Bluffs, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stephen Richter.
