INDEPENDENCE – Jeffery Francis Hingtgen, 57 years old of Independence, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, June 29, 2023, at his home in Independence.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, with burial at Wilson Cemetery, Independence, IA.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at White Funeral Home, Jesup.

Jeff was born July 8, 1965, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Gerald Bernard Hingtgen and Jeanette Margaret (Schrobilgen) Hingtgen.  He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1984.  On August 26, 1991, he was united in marriage to Dawn Marie Barker in Jesup.  Jeff had been employed at Blue Buffalo in Independence before his illness.  He had also worked at Iowa Ham, Pries Enterprises, Inc., and had been a driver for Don Hummer Trucking and Ryder Trucking.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Dawn Hingtgen of Independence; four daughters, Jody Hingtgen (Jon Kirkbride) of Independence, Crystal Hingtgen (Jaron Kirkbride) of Oelwein, IA, Jill Hingtgen (Laurence Jones) of Bettendorf, IA, Jenny Hingtgen of Independence; one son, Dusty Hingtgen (Madison Rouse) of Independence; two grandchildren, William and Ava Hingtgen; his father, Gerald Hingtgen of Jesup; his mother, Jeanette Lincoln of Independence; five brothers, Michael Hingtgen of Independence, Mark (Robin) Hingtgen of Baltimore, MD, Patrick (Diep) Hingtgen of Lexington Park, MD, Gerald (Traci) Hingtgen of Tiffin, IA, Kevin (Melissa) Hingtgen of Fairbank, IA; three sisters, Karen (James) Pullin and Jean (Roy) Bergman of Jesup, Jacque (Rod) Danielsen of Cedar Falls, IA; one step-sister, Karen (Keith) Martin of Denver, IA; also many fur babies

He is preceded in death by his stepmother, Judy Hingtgen; one sister, Karla Strickler; a sister-in-law, Dawn (Michael) Hingtgen; and stepbrother, Roger Megonigle.
