JESUP – Karla Mary Strickler, 62 years old of Iowa City, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Iowa City Rehab & Health Care Center in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. – Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, with burial at Wilson Cemetery, Independence, IA.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com

Karla was born December 25, 1960, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Gerald Bernard Hingtgen and Jeanette Margaret (Schrobilgen) Hingtgen.  She graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1979 and then attended Allen School of Nursing where she graduated with a nursing degree.

Karla is survived by two sons, Jonathan Hingtgen and Curtis Hingtgen of Fairfax, IA; two grandchildren; her father, Gerald Hingtgen of Jesup; her mother, Jeanette Lincoln of Independence; six brothers, Michael Hingtgen of Independence, Mark (Robin) Hingtgen of Baltimore, MD, Jeffrey (Dawn) Hingtgen of Independence, Patrick (Dieph) Hingtgen of Lexington Park, MD, Gerald (Traci) Hingtgen of Tiffin, IA, Kevin (Melissa) Hingtgen of Fairbank, IA; three sisters, Karen (James) Pullin and Jean (Roy) Bergman of Jesup, Jacque (Rod) Danielsen of Cedar Falls, IA; one step-sister, Karen (Keith) Martin of Denver, IA.

She is preceded in death by her stepmother, Judy Hingtgen; a sister-in-law, Dawn Hingtgen; and stepbrother, Roger Megonigle.
