Jesup – David Elliott Wellman, 82 years old of Jesup, IA, died Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Northcrest Specialty Care in Waterloo, IA.

He was born January 30, 1940, in Fox Township of Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Julius August Wellman and Mabel Mae (Elliott) Wellman. He married Sally June Weber.  She preceded him in death on July 3, 2018.  David worked as a skilled tradesman; a mechanic at Jensen Ford in Jesup and Burkhart Ford in Independence.  He retired from Deere and Company in Waterloo on December 31, 2000.  David was a member of United Auto Workers Union Local 838 in Waterloo.

He is survived by three sons, Brad (Dawn) Wellman of St. Louis, MO, Vincent (Jeanne) Wellman of Raymond, IA, Don (Sherri) Wellman of Crestview, FL; one daughter, Shani (John) Brumm of Mason City, IA, 5 grandchildren, Melissa (Kevin) Kunze, Daniel (Amanda) Wellman, Sara (Brian) Lashbrook, Trent (Stephanie) Wellman, Ashley (Rick) Uhlenhopp; numerous great grandchildren and one brother, Roy (Joan) Wellman of Denver, IA.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sally; his parents; one grandson Corey Wellman; and three sisters, Lora Schares, Audrey Breen and June Bulman.
