Independence – James A. Richardson, 78, died May 26, 2016 at home with family by his side.

Jim was born January 7, 1938 and grew up in the Toddville area.  As a young man, Jim began working at Rockwell Collins, where he remained for over 40 years. Jim was also owner/operator of Plan Plastics in Alburnett, Ia. for 10 years.  Upon his retirement from Rockwell, Jim worked for the Toddville/Alburnett school district.  There he was lovingly known as "Janitor Jim" for the next 10 years.

In 1981, Jim and Sue were married and joined their families, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.   Together, they shared a passion for the Iowa Hawkeyes, dancing, gardening, cooking and spending time with friends.  Grandpa Jim cherished his grandchildren and would spend hours with them outside making yard work fun, dispensing words of wisdom and teaching life lessons.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sue; their 6 children, Col. JR (Penny) Richardson; Jenice Richardson; Jon Richardson; Lori Comstock; Lisa (Bill) Kirby and Dewey (Lisa) Petersen; siblings Joyce and Ron; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to invite you to join them to celebrate Jim's life and share memories at a pot luck event from 1 pm - 6 pm onJune 18, 2016, at the Eagle Ridge Pavilion in Pinicon Ridge Park, Central City, Ia.

A memorial fund has been established at Veridian Credit Union.
