Dunkerton – Marie Elizabeth Reichen, 91 of Dunkerton, IA, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo, IA, following a short illness. 

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Saturday, January 30, 2016, at St. Francis Catholic Church – Barclay, rural Dunkerton, with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 29^th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and 6:00 p.m. Vigil service.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Saturday at the church.  Memorials will be directed to St. Francis Catholic Church – Barclay.

Mrs. Reichen was born February 6, 1924, at Dunkerton, IA, the daughter of Oliver Wellner and Eleanor (Shannon) Wellner.  She graduated from Dunkerton High School with the class of 1941 and then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls to earn her teachers certificate.  On November 11, 1946, she was united in marriage to Louis Albert Reichen at St. Francis Catholic Church- Barclay.  Marie and her husband operated Louie’s 66 service station, in Dunkerton for many years.  He preceded her in death in 1992.  She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church- Barclay, enjoyed playing cards with friends, Hawkeye basketball and football, and her family.

Mrs. Reichen is survived by three daughters, Shirley (Mark) Rogers of Waterloo, Patricia Reichen of Waterloo, Deborah (Bill Shaner) Reichen of Dunkerton; two sons, Ron (Becky) Reichen of Dunkerton, Bob Reichen of Dunkerton; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Cletus (Mary Ann) Wellner of Waterloo, Robert Wellner of Davenport, IA.  In addition to her husband, her parents preceded her in death.
