Jesup – Kenneth J. Youngblut, Sr., 81 years old of Jesup, IA, died Friday, January 22, 2016, at his home following a short illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. - Monday, January 25, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA, with burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Gilbertville, with Military Rites conducted by Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 714 of Gilbertville.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.,Sunday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary at 2:00 p.m. and Vigil service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Monday at the church.  Memorials will be directed to Immaculate Conception Church in Gilbertville and to Cedar Valley Hospice in Independence, IA.

Mr. Youngblut was born in rural Black Hawk County, near Jesup on October 28, 1934, the son of LeRoy F. Youngblut and Louise Elizabeth (Herrmann) Youngblut.  At 8 years old he went to live with Louis and Dorothy Youngblut, his Uncle and Aunt.  Following his school years, he served in the US Navy during the Korean War. On April 19, 1956, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Holbrook at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. Before retirement, Mr. Youngblut worked 29 years at Rath Packing; 10 years at Bertch Cabinet Manufacturing, and also farmed.  He enjoyed playing a game of cards, fishing, his grandchildren and tinkering around the farm.  He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Catholic Order of Foresters and Nugent Demuth American Legion Post 714, all in Gilbertville.

Mr. Youngblut is survived by his wife, Beverly of Jesup; five daughters, Lynette (Steve) Delagardelle of Jesup, Julie Lewis of Fayette, IA, Donna (Mike) Schares of Jesup, Margie (Mike) Knipp of Jesup, Shelly (Bill) Weber of La Porte City, IA; one son, Kenneth “Shorty” (Kim) Youngblut, Jr. of Jesup; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte (Chuck) Hitchings of Waterloo, Janice (Tom Holbach) Lee of La Porte City, and Patty (Lee) Neese of Campbell, CA; also many nieces and nephews.  His parents and two sisters, Betty Gardner and Lavonne Cochran preceded him in death.
