Independence – Joan L. Rasmussen, 60 years old, of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Independence, died on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Country View Care Center in Waterloo.  She was born on February 3, 1955, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Freddie Lee and Loretta Jo (Eschen) Rasmussen.  She attended school in Quasqueton, Iowa, and also at Cono Christian School near Walker, Iowa.  Ms. Rasmussen enjoyed working puzzles and cross stitch, playing cards, and doing ceramics.  She also enjoyed playing in the bell choir at Country View Care Center.

Ms. Rasmussen is survived by her mother, Loretta Rasmussen of Independence, Iowa, 3 sisters, Julie Sanford of Dysart, Iowa, Jeanette Gahring of Versailles, Missouri, and Shelly (Alan) Johnson of Independence and 1 brother, Wayde Rasmussen of Independence.  She is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews, and 1 great great niece.

She was preceded in death by her father, 1 sister, Sherry Eldridge, and 1 brother, Todd Rasmussen.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independencewith Pastor Greg DeBoer officiating.  Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21^st, at the church. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.
