Independence – Jacqueline B. “Jackie” Jacobs, 80 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the Vinton Lutheran Home in Vinton, Iowa.  She was born on December 16, 1933, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer Nicholas and Agnes Rosalyn (Schadle) Fink.  After finishing high school, she graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque.  On June 4, 1955, she and Derry Dale Jacobs were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dubuque.  He preceded her in death in 2008.  Mrs. Jacobs was a registered nurse for about one year before concentrating on caring for her growing family.  She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence and the St. John’s Rosary Society.

Mrs. Jacobs is survived by 3 daughters, Carolyn (Mark) Phippen of Vinton, Iowa, Jo Ellen (John) Henriksen of Audubon, Iowa, and Joy Jacobs of Independence, Iowa, 2 sons, David (LuAnn) Jacobs of Papillion, Nebraska, and Thomas (Lisa) Jacobs of Franklin, Tennessee, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by 2 sisters, Shirley Deutmeyer and Mary Parkin, both of Dubuque, Iowa, and 2 brothers, Karl Fink and Elmer L. Fink, both of Dubuque, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 1 daughter, Mary Rose Jacobs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. Rev. Donald Plamondon will be the Celebrant.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct 8th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a Parish Rosary begins at 3 p.m.
