Independence – Norma F. Lucas, 89 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, August 11, 2014,  at the Buchanan CountyHealth Center in Independence.  She was born on June 3, 1925, in Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of Burt Edward and Martha Arminda (Adams) Miller.  She attended school in Fairbank, Iowa.  In 1939, she and Earl J. Stacey were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  They divorced in 1958.  On May 16, 1968, she and Leon Lindburg Lucas were married in Sumner, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2006.  Mrs. Lucas worked in the dietary department at the Mental Health Institute in Independence for 14 years.  She retired in 1987.  She was a member of the Calvary Evangelistic Center, in Independence, the Highland Social Club and the County Line Club.  She enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, gardening, and crocheting.

Mrs. Lucas is survived by 3 sons, Robert (Marjorie) Stacy of Cape Coral, Florida, Richard (Linda) Stacey of Winthrop, Iowa, and Dennis (Debbie) Stacey of Independence, Iowa, 4 daughters, Linda (Mick) Cashen of Rowley, Iowa, Norma (Paul) Randall of Independence, Iowa, Mary Karr of Grinnell, Iowa, and Donna (Jeff) Cornwell of Oelwein, Iowa.  She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Charles Miller of Fairbank, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, Charles Stacy and Rodney Stacey, 1 daughter, Eulla Wiese, and 3 brothers, Jim Miller, Edward Miller, and Robert Miller.

Memorial Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13th, at the White Funeral Home with Pastor James Ganze officiating. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Dean Wiese, Steven Stacey, Joseph Randall, Brian Randall, Myles Cornwell, David Stacey, Russell Stacy, David Randall, Jared Stacey, Michael Stacey, Joshua Karr, and Vaughn Jensen.  Mrs. Lucas’ cremated remains will be buried inLincoln Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon, at a later date.

Friends may call for visitation from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
