Independence – Dennis Doren “Tex” Haag, 63 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at East Towne Care Center in Independence.  He was born on July 4, 1947, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Victor Lawrence and Germaine Therese (Geordt) Haag.  He attended St. Mary’s School in Dubuque.  He married Norma Jean Johnson and they were later divorced.  Mr. Haag worked at several stores in the Goodwill Industries system.  He loved country music and rodeos, motorcycles and racing, and drawing and wood burning pictures.  But most of all, he enjoyed fishing and telling a good story.

Mr. Haag is survived by 2 sisters, Michele (Ray) McIntire of Jesup, Iowa, and Ann Foster of Monticello, Iowa, 1 brother, Jude (Rhona) Haag of Olin, Iowa, 3 nephews, and 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Pastor Howard Mace officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.

Friends may call for visitation after 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
