INDEPENDENCE  - Bill D. Trebon, 71 years old, of Independence, IA, and formerly of Fairbank, IA, died following a short illness, on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at UnityPoint – St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at White Funeral Home, Independence, followed by a light lunch at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, IA, with military honors conducted by the Fairbank American Legion Post #552.

Public visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2024, at White Funeral Home, Independence, and will continue an hour before services, Tuesday, at the funeral home.

William Dale Trebon was born December 16, 1952, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Dale Joseph Trebon and Marie Angeline (Reuter) Trebon. Bill was raised in rural Fairbank and graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1971. He joined the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War and was a member of the 35th Infantry Division where he earned multiple marksmanship awards. Bill was a member of the Fairbank American Legion Post 552.

On August 19, 1972, Bill married Elodie Swift in West Des Moines, IA. Together they had Kenny, Jodi, and Clint. The couple would later divorce. In June of 1987, Bill married the former Holly Marie (Eschen) in Independence and welcomed her two children, Scott and Heidi, into the family as his own. Together, Bill and Holly raised their family on the farm in rural Fairbank. Bill farmed and worked for Buchanan County in the Secondary Roads Department. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and liked to hunt, fish, and drive his 1969 Pontiac GTO. He was a history buff, loved to watch Westerns, and had a wry sense of humor. Bill was a man of few words, but when he spoke, you listened.

Bill is survived by his children, Jodi Trebon of Des Moines, IA, Clint (Andrea) Trebon of Bondurant, IA, Heidi (Antonio) Wilson of Seffner, FL, Scott Pint of Independence, IA; 14 grandchildren, Ty, Brooklynn, Tristan, Natalee, Kenna, Ashlyn, Devin, Kailyn, Rilyn, Dillyn, Jaydin, Romin, Brennin, Addilyn; one brother, Ron (Paula) Trebon of Eugene, OR; one sister-in-law, Gwen Trebon of Fairbank, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Holly; one son, Kenneth “Kenny” Trebon; and one brother, James Trebon.
