Robins – Arlene M. Zumbach, 84 years old, of Robins, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died peacefully at home, on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Emery Place in Robins, Iowa.  She was born on March 18, 1938, in Independence the daughter of Ross Lester and Pearl Elizabeth (Shaw) Gallup.  She graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1956.  On December 25, 1956, she and Ervin Verlin Zumbach were married in Ryan, Iowa.  He preceded her in death in 2009.  Mrs. Zumbach held several secretarial positions in the area and also was a teachers aide.  She also was the owner and operator of Country a la Mode in Aurora where she marketed her painted creations and other gifts.  She retired in 2006.

Mrs. Zumbach was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Aurora, Iowa, and the Lutheran Churches in Oelwein and Aurora where she taught Sunday School.  She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother.  She was a wonderful hostess and decorator, especially at Christmas time.  She collected all kinds of teddy bears and would give presentations where she shared her bears with preschool and kindergarten children.  Most of all, she loved her family and will be remembered for her ever-present smile.

Mrs. Zumbach is survived by 2 daughters, LuAnn Gates of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Jana (Jeff) DeBrower of Marion, Iowa, 1 son, Brad (Jill) Zumbach of Racine, Minnesota, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Laura (Dwayne) Ott of Fairbank, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, Ervin, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son-in-law, David Gates, 1 sister, Norma Kunkle, 1 brother, Frank Gallup, and her beloved sheltie, Korey.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.  Visitation begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and continues until service time.  Burial will be in Manchester Cemetery in Manchester, Iowa.
