Independence – Donna D. Manson, 93 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Lexington Estate in Independence.  She was born in Buchanan County, Iowa, on December 29, 1926, the daughter of Wade Elmer and Louise Emma (Holle) Crawford.  She attended the Buchanan County country schools.  On November 23, 1950, she and Virgil Everett Manson were married in Quasqueton, Iowa.  He preceded her in death in 2017. Mrs. Manson always had a garden and canned and froze her produce.  She was a child care provider in her later years.  She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Manson is survived by 1 son, Virgil (Kaye) Manson of Rowley, Iowa, 1 daughter, Shirley (Roger) Allen of Independence, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Robert “Sam” Crawford and Don Crawford, both of Independence.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Earl Crawford and Caryel Crawford, and 3 sisters, LaVon Fisher, Wylmarie Rasmussen, and Norine Crawford.

Graveside services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020, with Rev. Greg DeBoer officiating.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28^th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
