Jesup – Laura BELLE Demuth, 90 years old of Jesup, IA, died peacefully at her home, Thursday, April 16, 2020, surrounded in love by her family.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will have private family visitation on Monday, April 20, 2020 at the White Funeral Home, 1315 Main Street, Jesup, IA.

With safety for all in mind, but still share Belle with extended family and friends, the family encourages you to drive through the funeral home driveway to say goodbye through the window, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Please be ready with your names on a piece of paper and if you wish a fond memory of Belle for collection.  A collection site for cards will be provided as well.  Stay safe, in your cars and observe the no gathering mandates.

There will be a private family funeral service for Belle held at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21st.  The service will be Live Streamed on the church website.  www.saintaparish.com then click on the first button for YouTube.

Following the service, Belle will be laid to rest at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery in Jesup, next to her beloved husband, Robert Demuth.

Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Catholic School in Jesup and to Camp Courageous in Monticello, IA.  Memories and condolences may also be shared on the funeral home website.  www.White-MtHope.com

Belle Demuth was born June 2, 1929, in Fayette, IA, the daughter of Joshua Green and Agnes O. (Hardin) Green.  She attended school in Fayette and graduated with the class of 1947.  She worked 11 years at the Davis Drug Store in Fayette before her marriage to Robert John Demuth.  They were married on September 9, 1953, in Oelwein, IA.  They lived for a short time in Austin, MN, before moving to Jesup in 1964, when Bob began working at John Deere in Waterloo.  Belle was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America in Jesup.  She did volunteer work at St. Athanasius School for many years and taught CCD in her home years ago.

Belle is survived by one daughter and son in law, Jillaine “Jill” and Darryle Else of Jesup, IA; one son and daughter in law, Jack Demuth and his wife Jean Fujita of Chicago, IL; three grandsons, Daniel (Kelly) Demuth of Cave Junction, OR, Luke Demuth of Chicago, IL, Derrick (Alicia) Tatro of Cedar Rapids, IA; two granddaughters, Brandy Jo Else and her husband Brian Jerrit of Waialua, HI and Stacey Fischels and her husband Aaron Fischels of Jesup, IA; three great grandsons, Jahsiah Demuth, Dalton Tatro and Dakota Tatro; also, three great granddaughters, Maya Demuth, Athena Demuth and Bowen Annabelle Fischels.

In addition to her husband Bob Demuth; her parents; four sisters, Susan Parker, Martha Bullock, Betty Blue and Bea Meredith; and one brother James S. Green, preceded her in death
