Independence – Douglas D. Faust, 60 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Mercy One – Waterloo in Waterloo, Iowa.  He was born on August 28, 1959, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Edward Duane and Edna Bell (Sutton) Faust.  He finished high school in Independence, Iowa.  On October 20, 1984, he and the former Marcia Rae Holst were married in Independence.  When forced to retire due to his health, he was a regional delivery person for the Cedar Rapids Gazette.  Mr. Faust was a league bowler in Independence.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren.  And he also was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers.

Mr. Faust is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Marcia, 2 daughters, Virginia Lewin of Oelwein, Iowa, and Joanne (Donavon) Oliphant of Independence, 2 sons Mitchell Faust and Thomas (Liz) Faust, both of Independence, 14 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.  He is also survived by his father, Edward Faust of Lamont, Iowa, 1 brother Steve (Linda) Faust of Independence, 1 sister, Joanne Bernard of Independence, 4 step brothers, and 2 step sisters.

He was preceded in death by his mother, 1 brother-in-law, Mike Bernard, and his step mother, Lois Faust.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 27th, at the American Legion Hall in Independence from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 26th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.  His cremated remains will be buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
